How do I start hunting with crossbows?
I want to hunt but I am terrified of loud noises. How much noise does a crossbow make when being shot? Also: Are crossbows effective for deer and other such game? Tell me everything I need to know to get started Hunting with crossbows.
If your state has a legal crossbow season I would first go to a shop and get the feel for several different types of crossbows to find one of your liking.
Crossbows will take any game animal legal to use a crossbow with in the USA!
This is my set up a quad 400 accurate out to 60 yards for whitetail deer shooting 22"bolts 100 grain tekan heads with 15.5" power stroke!
Draw Weight: 150-lb Foot Pounds Energy: 122
Speed: 345 fps!
Practise often to become a good shooter and a crossbow is very accurate as long as the shooter is!
What is the difference between field trials and hunting tests?
I want to know the difference between a hunting test and a field trial.
Any info is welcome and thank you SO much for your answers =)
A hunting test is a pass/fail test. The dog is graded on style, trainable, birdiness, retrieving etc. The style mimics more of a hunting type situation. In senior and master’s the handler is expected to act like a hunter by following the line of the bird with a "gun" while the gunners shoot the bird. The handler is also expected to dress (within reason) and to act like a hunter on the field or line. Pointing your "gun" at a person or in an unsafe manner will get you disqualified. Hunting tests are divided in junior, senior and master classes. The dogs progress usually from class to class. A certain number of passes (legs) must be won before a dog gets his title. In Hunting tests the dogs can be spayed/neutered and have an ILP/PAL number. Many rescue dogs have done well in hunting tests as have conformation champions or showbred dogs. Hunting tests are quite relaxed.
Field trials are more "artificial". This is hunting in extremes. the dog is expected to perform picture perfect flushing (spaniels), marking, retrieving, and running the pattern. Two dogs are usually run at the same time (spaniels) but they must not interfer with each other and they must honor the shot and flush. The handler does not have to act like a hunter nor does he carry a "gun". Placements in the field trials is how the dogs gets the points for his championship. Fifteen points are needed for a field champion title. Dogs must be intact and have full AKC registration. Although showbred dogs do occasionally compete, they usually will not place (spaniels) because they cannot run the extreme pattern that is required for placement. Plus the judging can be more subjective. Rescue dogs cannot compete because of their lack of full AKC registration and they aren’t intact.
Hope this helps.
Police Dogs
The foremost duty of the government of any country is to retain public security and peace throughout the country. And make sure the crime rate comes to zero. Criminals are clever people and they use tactics and strategies when they can break out and commit crimes. To fight crimes the governments have prepared forces of various types. The police forces operate within the city and it is their duty to maintain peace and fight crimes.
Pet dogs are known to serve man the most amongst animals. When they have been used in olden times as shepherd dogs and Hunting dogs so they now serve today’s military forces to fight crimes. The platoons of these special dogs are famously known as k-9s. All over the world these dogs are specially trained for different kinds of operations. These dogs are much more ferocious, fierce and more trained. They work side by side with the police forces to secure people and secure areas.
German shepherds and other such dogs can be seen helping police forces in tracking down runaways. Some of them are used as the normal patrolling dogs. They give duties along with the police at night when they are giving duties at highways and roads etc. Then others are trained for many years to identify narcotics and detect bombs that may be installed in hidden areas. They have been known for capturing felony criminals and drug dealers etc since decades. That is why they are so reliable.
Police dogs are a great blessing because they are able to use their sense of smell and hearing that is much more powerful than human senses. What they simply do is they make the dogs inhale a scent of either a man or drugs whatever that has to be tracked down. Then the dogs are unleashed and they go off on their trail. And soon enough these criminals are tracked down easily. They make the police jobs and their investigations a lot easier than they actually are.
The FBI rely 50 percent on their dogs during investigations. There are fire dogs that help fire fighters with their jobs. They do not hesitate from jumping into a burning building and look for survivors. And they tend to reach places man cannot even think of reaching.
These dogs are able to work for hours and hours without rest and they dutifully defend the borders with the police throughout the year, in every sort of weather without complaining.

Fishing in Costa Rica- Where to Find the Fish
With over 750 miles of coastline, anglers fishing in Costa Rica have a multitude of options. It’s a big ocean out there much of it void of fishing action. The key to successful offshore Fishing is knowing where to find the fish.
There is no replacement for local expertise when it comes to finding fish. Every good captain knows where to find the fish, but you may find the following information helpful when exploring new fishing grounds.
The most important tip for finding fish is Watch for Variation. Variation can come in several forms, some obvious and some more subtle.
Los Corrientes
The tried and true method to finding billfish in Costa Rica is fishing in “los corrientes”. These currents can be spotted by a subtle change in color and in temperature. Baitfish and predators are plentiful in these currents. An experienced captain will work the edges of “los corrientes”. When fishing from Quepos, Jaco, or Herradura, captains will find “los corrientes” about twenty-five to thirty miles from shore during peak billfish season.

Oceanfloor Geography
Underwater geopgraphic structures such as canyons can increase the flow of ocean currents. The rapidly moving currents can trap bait fish and large game fish move in after the trapped bait. As with the seasonal currents, these currents may be spotted by looking for subtle changes in water color or surface temperature. Of course an experienced Costa Rican offshore fishing guide will have one eye on the bottom (GPS) and one eye on the surface looking for the subtle changes.
Floating Debris
The rainy season in Costa Rica is the hottest time of year for dorado, oftentimes bull dorado weighing over fifty pounds. The experienced fisherman knows that fish love structure, even temporary structure resulting from debris washing out to sea from rain swollen rivers. Fishing deep around weed lines, floating pallets, or logs can yield a great dorado run. Other game fish can be found beneath the debris as well.
Underwater Structure
Wrecks and reefs provide structure for large bottom fish including Cubera snapper and grouper. The structure is also home to plankton and other small organisms that attract baitfish which in turn attract big game fish looking for a meal. Remember that the main structure may be overfished while potential satellite sites around the structure are teaming with life. Larger gamefish often hang out at these quieter satellite sites.
Slicks
Keep you eye out for oily slicks on the waters surface. As big game fish such as dorado, tuna, marlin and sailfish are feeding they chase bait to the surface. Fish oils are released and the slick results. If you have found a bait slick you have found sometime of fish feeding. If you are lucky it will the trophy catch you are looking for.
Birds
Offshore birds are always fishing in Costa Rica. They are searching for bait pods, tuna feeding, or trolling billfish. Pay particular attention to the frigate birds especially those that are circling in one location. The experienced fishing guide knows that a lone frigate bird can lead you to a trophy Tuna, Marlin, or Sailfish.
When fishing offshore in Costa Rica, the importance of local expertise can not be overstated. Natural underwater geographic structures are consistent and local Costa Rica Fishing Guides have committed these to GPS and memory giving them the edge when fishing for big game fish in these waters. In addition, an experienced captain and mate will have developed keen eyes. I have seen Captains spot schooling Tuna 3 miles away, just by looking for disturbed water.

What are the best commercial fishing oppurtunities in Alaska?
I’m 24 years old and will be arriving in Anchorage on May 17th. I’ve heard that Homer is a great place to work out of. What’s it like there as far as possibilities to find a job on a fishing boat? What is there to do when I’m in port? What are other options in other Alaskan towns?
If ya’ know someone that is a resident of AK., then that’ll be a BIG advantage!!! Take some strolls on the docks and inquire about getting on a boat. If it be Homer your lookin’ at, (pretty small town, population around 4,000) they have quite a lot of seining boats in the harbor’s along with trollers and gill netters. Gill netters and trollers are usually a one or two man operation and chance’s of someone takin’ on a "green deck hand" are pretty slim. Best bet for ya’ are the seiners (larger crew). Another way is gettin’ on at a cold storage (fish cannery) the pay is good but it can be pretty messy work and check with incomin’ boat’s about job availabilities. Keep in mind this is seasonal work, so it’s best to know the seasons. It might help ya’ to go on the internet and search for Fishing Jobs in Alaska. There are jobs on crab boats, but it is very, very rough and dangerous work!! I lived in Southeastern AK., (Juneau) and worked fishin’ boats from Sitka to Yakutat for a few years so have a pretty good idea as ta’ whats goin’ on. Ha’, any chance of one gettin’ out of the "Lower 48" is the first step. I’d like ta’ pack up the MS’s and head back ourselves. Good luck to ya’ and keep in mind searchin’ the internet…
What kind of different types of fishing are there?
My uncle and i went fishing and he used this rod but it did’nt have a reel. instead, it was held parallel to the water and a floating stick was at the end of the line. when a fish bit, the stick would sink or rise and he would pull the rod up with fish. i was wondering what this kind of fishing is called.
Yes it sounds like cane fishing….but….we would need a better description of the "pole".
There is a facet of fishing called match fishing, basically competative fishing where anglers have a relativly small area to fish, next to other anglers and the most pounds of fish wins. They have come up with some very inventive techniques to maximize reach and fish very pinpoint specific spots in their range (and often with a very thin float).
One popular method (in Europe) is a stiff graphite telescoping "pole" (pole as opposed to rod).
These are not your typical cane poles. These things can reach over 30 feet! you feed extra sections of pole into the previous and build the length of pole you need as you go! Plus these things can cost a mint, over a $1000, and a typical cane pole (bamboo stick or cheap fiberglass) is pretty cheap ($10-$30) for the most part.
check out this video to see a "pole" set up and very good tutorial on how they are manipulated.

I hope this is on the right track, and if not it partially answers the title of your post about various types of Fishing.
What is the best bow to use while hunting?
I am just starting out bow hunting, and I was hoping someone could give me the name of a good bow and a couple pointers.
The best bow for you really depends on your draw length, height, and what pound draw you are capable of pulling back. Brand name should be a minor consideration when picking out a bow, as how a bow feels in your hands and when you pull it back are more important. The best thing to do is visit the closest archery shop and just simply try out some bows and see what fits.
I started off Hunting with a 15 year old hand-me-down bow, and I got 3 deer in my first 3 years. Dont worry about getting the latest and greatest, just get what feels right for you.
How Can I start hunting from 0 level ? does it require to be so rich necessarily specially for wild animals?
I am dummy in hunting and living in europe but any answer would be appreciated.
and how may i know if the area is protected or free in Hunting season?
In america, all it takes is a couple hundred bucks or so.
-rifle or shotgun or revolver for hunting
-camo/gear
-hunting license
-ammunition
-gun cleaning kit
-pay for instant background check
Then walk out of the store with the firearm the same day.
You may also be required to take hunters safety course.
There are quite a few countries in and around Europe where hunting is easy and common to do.
I cant remember any, but ive seen them before.
